Senate District 36 is comprised of portions of Orange and Los Angeles counties.

Cities in Orange County include Buena Park (partial), Cypress, Dana Point, Fountain Valley, Garden Grove (partial), Huntington Beach, Laguna Beach, La Palma, Los Alamitos, Newport Beach, San Clemente, Seal Beach, Stanton, and Westminster, in addition to the unincorporated places Midway City and Rossmoor.

Cities in SD 36 Los Angeles County include Artesia, Cerritos, and Hawaiian Gardens.
