Senator Strickland encourages Senate District 36 college graduates to apply for California Senate Fellows Program

Senator Tony Strickland (R-Huntington Beach) is proud to announce that applications are now open for the California Senate Fellows Program, a prestigious and highly-respected opportunity for individuals who are passionate about public service, legislative affairs, and shaping California’s future.

“I am encouraging students in California’s 36 Senate district who are eligible to apply. The Senate Fellows Program is more than a job—it's a launchpad for the next generation of public leaders,” said Senator Strickland.

The California Senate Fellows Program offers participants an opportunity to gain first-hand experience in the legislative process while working full-time in the State Capitol in Sacramento. Fellows are assigned to the office of a Senator or a Senate committee and are directly involved in developing legislation, conducting policy research, writing briefs, and assisting constituents.

“Over the years during my time in the legislature, I’ve had fellows moved on to higher positions at the Capitol – from Capitol Director to Chief of Staff. Senate Fellows bring fresh perspectives and energy to the Capitol, while gaining deep knowledge of California’s most pressing issues,” concluded Senator Strickland.

Each year, 18 individuals are selected from diverse academic, professional, and cultural backgrounds. Many go on to pursue influential careers in public policy, law, government, education, and advocacy. Past Fellows include state legislators, judges, senior policy advisors, and nonprofit leaders.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree by September 1, 2026. Applications are now being accepted, and the deadline to submit is December 8, 2025. Learn more here by clicking on his website.
