Media Advisory: Senator Strickland presents Gas Tax Relief Bill

USC Professor Mische outlines the economic case

Senator Tony Strickland (R-Huntington Beach) will present Senate Bill 1035, the Gas Tax Relief Act, to the Senate Environmental Quality Committee. SB 1035 is aimed at lowering the price of gas by $1.08 per gallon by temporarily suspending the state’s gas tax, the Low Carbon Fuel Standard, and the Cap & Invest fees for one year. Joining Senator Strickland today is USC Marshall School of Business Professor Michael Mische.

Visuals for Journalists: During his presentation, Senator Strickland will present two models developed by public policy experts that illustrate California’s gas prices under scenarios with and without global disruption. The models illustrate how our regulatory burden, combined with an overreliance on imported oil, can create dramatic price spikes at the pump.
