Senator Strickland urges Governor Newsom to block early release of killer Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano

Undocumented immigrant killed two vibrant Seal Beach students

Senator Tony Strickland (R-Huntington Beach), a long-standing, fierce advocate for public safety, released the following statement following media reports that Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano, a twice-deported undocumented immigrant, will be granted early release this summer:

“This is unfathomable, unbelievable, and this tragedy could have been prevented.

“The reckless action of this undocumented immigrant, who should not have been in our country at all, has left two families in anguish over our criminal justice system and grief-stricken for the loss of two vibrant young adults.

“Now, due to the state’s corrupt early release system, these families are dealt another blow. There is no justice for these families as early release should never be on the table.

“I stand with the U.S. Attorney’s Office who intends to pursue immigration charges against this convicted felon, and I urge the governor to find a means of blocking any early release for Ortega-Anguiano.”

Background on Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano:
